Types of Dentures

Posted .

Dentures come in lots of types depending on the patient’s amount and placement of missing pearly whites. Broadly speaking, dentures come in one of two styles: complete or partial.

The most well-known dentures are complete false teeth, which replace all chompers and come in conventional and immediate types. Conventional complete dentures will replace chompers two to three months after tooth removal so that gums can recover; but this means wearers will be without teeth during their gum-recovery phase. Immediate complete false teeth, on the other hand, are ready for placement immediately after chompers are removed; the drawback being needed adjustments to the false teeth since gums and bones shift during healing.

Partial false teeth, in contrast to complete dentures, are meant to replace less than a full set of teeth. A bridge of partial dentures will contain pseudo pearly whites in patches corresponding to your missing natural pearly whites and will be held in place in your oral cavity using clasps that hold to the remaining natural teeth. However, if your remaining teeth are badly injured, then Dr. Kevin Lacour may endorse extracting your teeth and opting for complete false teeth rather than partial false teeth.
